Learn Dog is a programme of
organised lessons for all those who want to learn about dogs’ care in a family
setup. The aim of this activity is to deliver all studies and modern techniques
on how to properly care for a dog. Unfortunately, there are many myths about
how to raise dogs in our society, and many dogs are either threated like
children, or threated unkindly. The message will be that of respecting a dog as
a dog first, and not as a human being. Another aim of this programme is
prevention. As we say, ‘prevention is better than cure’, and in this case,
these lessons will help a dog owner to prevent any bad behavior that might
arise. Hopefully, because of sharing
this knowledge, dog owners will be loaded with clear guidelines on how to be
the best parents they can be for their dogs.
This programme is an
all-rounder, and touches all aspects of dog caring, starting from the reason to
why a person wants a dog in the first place, choosing the right dog for their
lifestyle, general information about nutrition, healthcare, grooming, training,
laws, ethics, breeding and lots of seasonal tips for the best care possible.
This programme is not only intended for dog owners, but also to those who
aspire to own a dog in the near future.
One of the sessions will be for parents and children. It is important
that expectant parents know how to train a dog before and after the baby is
born. Moreover, in this particular session,
children will be invited. Simple and fun games will be used to teach them how
to act when meeting a dog, and how they can train a dog themselves.
The programme consists of
12 sessions split up into 3 packs of 4 sessions each. Every session will take 2
hours and an extra 30 minutes dedicated for questions, discussions and
socialising. These will take place on Level 1 of the Catholic Institute in
Floriana, which should be easy to reach because of its geographical position,
and these is plenty of space where to park the car. Top and qualified trainers,
vets and groomers, will use their expertise and experience, with the help of
multimedia presentations, in order to cover their respective topic. Classes
will be made up of around 15 people, and the programme will repeat itself
according to the demand. In every programme, notebooks will be given to every
participant. These notebooks will include a few lined pages for note jotting, a
few pages with easy-find information, such as important phone numbers, and
pages for sponsors. Refreshments will be available. A certificate will be given
on the last lesson, which will include the attended lesson titles. Contact me on learndogmalta@gmail.com or 99876038.
